Officially installed the Calabrian Scientific Committee of the Meeting Foundation
The Calabrian Scientific Committee of the Fondazione Incontro has officially established itself during the first meeting, which was held at the Rector's office of the University of "Magna Graecia" in Catanzaro. The prestigious international organization, commissioned by Don Pierino Gelmini, thus moves a very important step in the direction of the full operation of the Calabrian office of San Mango D'Aquino, whose honorary president is Antonio Scalzo. The Scientific Committee, which provides scientific support to the initiatives of the meeting community, met in the presence of President Scalzo. Chaired by the magnificent rector Giovambattista De Sarro, who coordinated the work, it is also composed of Santo Gratteri (Vice-President), Michelangelo Iannone (Secretary), Franco Montesano, Maria Giulia Audino, Lina Casalinuovo and Giovanni Paola. Scalzo emphasizes "the high scientific and professional value of the personalities called to be part of the Committee, beginning with the magnificent rector De Sarro. We look at the ' Magna Graecia ' as a point of reference not only on the strictly didactic side and research, but also in the relationship with the territory, which needs to put in the network the best experiences and energies to help improve our Society, contrasting the effects of the phenomena of degradation that are the basis of the many tragic events of addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling. In the community, which is located in the territory of San Mango D'Aquino in Calabria, men and women are assisted with problems due to the recruitment of substances and psychiatric disorders with a specific program depending on the type of addiction. In addition, the meeting community can also accommodate people who have to discount alternative penalty measures reported by the Ministry of Justice. The community operates through the approach of ergottherapy, that is the therapeutic use of work, such as the care of green areas, gardens and animals, the management of the workshop, the cleanliness of environments and personal clothing. In the rehabilitation course, an individual or group psychological support is guaranteed, in the context of pedagogic-rehabilitative plans individualized according to the type and severity of the assisted, lasting from 18 to 24 months.
